WHAT PROPELS YOU INTO ACTION?

We must first pay attention to what is productive than what is comfortable

It takes defining and discomforting moments to realize we must take action to pursue and achieve our set goals or dreams in life. It's easy to just want to sit down or stay in bed than to get up and begin taking actions towards realizing our set goals and dreams in life.

Just like The lazy Song by Bruno Mars says "Today I don't feel like doing anything. I just wanna lay in my bed...."

Yeah, this happens a lot to many of us. There are days the spirit is willing but the body is weak. You have a goal you want to achieve so bad for yourself but sometimes, you just find it difficult to keep chasing this goal or goals because you are either probably tired, see no reason why you should keep pressing on or that you see the odds against you but despite all, there should  or has to be something that propels us into action and and I believe its MOTIVATION.

What is the motivation behind you setting a goal to achieve? What is the reason why you want to achieve that dream in your head or mind? the answer to these questions should keep propelling you into actions towards realizing your set goals and dreams in life except they are not as important as the air you breathe in. Your goals should not just be a nice to have but but a fundamental part of  your direction and purpose in life.

Motivation comprises of a lot of things to keep you going such as your personal goals, values and the curiosity to succeed as well as the reward or pleasure you derive from achieving that set goal. Yeah! the shear joy and happiness you feel after achieving a set a goal serves as a reward.

So many of us have dreams and have envisioned the kind of life we would want to have or live but how many us are willing to embark on the tasks that lead to the realization of that envisioned dream? What propels us into action realizing this dream or dreams?

To cause a change in our lives, we must engage in actions that effect these desired changes in our lives but we must be propelled into action to realize our dream life.

HERE IS HOW TO GET PROPELLED INTO ACTION

1. WRITE DOWN YOUR GOALS : Write down your goals - whether short or long term goals. What do you really want to achieve? Write them them down in a book just as Habakkuk 2:2 says "Write the vision and make it plain upon tablets, that he may run that reads it." The more you see the written goals, the more excited and motivated you become to want to pursue your set goals.

2. HAVE A PLAN: Writing and setting goals don't do it themselves. To achieve your set goals, you must have a plan on how you are going to achieve these set goals. Allocate resources - time, tools, finance, energy, skills and focus - and then set deadlines for yourself to which you would want to realize a set goal.

Your plan could be daily, it could be weekly. For me, a plan to keep this blog thriving is writing and publishing weekly. My podcast is also done weekly. Make your plans realistic. Don't make plans you can't meet up. Check your daily or weekly schedule and see how you can fix wiring on your goals and dreams in your schedule. This way, you don't burnout. And if any day or week you don't meet up, its okay.. Just don't relent or make it a habit of skipping working on your goals.

3. TAKE ACTION: You may feel inspired and excited about a goal but without taking actions concerning your goals, you go nowhere. If we could all wish our dreams come true, life would be boring wouldn't it? But what makes life thrilling and adventurous are the steps and actions we take towards realizing a set goal in life. Your life  is and adventure.

Taking actions towards achieving your set goals in life is very crucial as they turn dreams into reality and builds momentum. The good thing about taking action is that it propels and motivates you into taking more actions especially when you succeed with the first action or step. This brings happiness and a sense of fulfillment. You don't need to wait till when you have everything you need. Start with what you have, where you and what you can. These tiny little steps build up over time and in turn brings your dreams into reality.

4. BE YOUR OWN CHEERLEADER: I always say to people to be first their own motivation before anyone else. There are times, you may be working so hard trying to achieve set goals or be the best that you can be but would seem like your actions or efforts are invisible to others. Trust me, such moments can weaken you and make you wanna stop putting in the effort. During such moments, see the good you do and the good in you and let these serve as a source of motivation to you.

Other times is the fear in embarking on a new venture in life and there is this fear of failing, making mistakes, being mocked or criticized, at such times, speak positive words to your self such as "I can do this." "It's workable" It's possible." and so on

5. PROVE YOURSELF WRONG: One of my favourite quotes is Never Say Never. Whatever you have set for yourself as a goal to achieve is for you and no one else. You do not need to prove to anyone you can do it whether they believe you or not but to prove yourself wrong despite the fears of failing, making mistakes, being mocked or criticized. Prove to yourself that you can do this and be better at it. Despite the fears do it afraid anyways. You will never know the result or the outcome of a thing until you try.

6. HAVE A POSITIVE MINDSET: Have a lifelong process of working on your mindset by reading inspirational or motivational books, listening to positive words from sound speakers, podcasts like the Thrive Nest Podcast, hang out with positive minded people and keep working on your attitude towards achieving your set goals in life. This will keep you propelled and motivated into action.

7. REWARD YOURSELF:
Reward yourself for every successful step you take towards realizing your set goal in life. Look back towards when you started and the fears you overcame realizing your goals and enjoy the satisfaction it brings you. You can also reward yourself by taking a little break, take a chilled drink and bask in the euphoria of the accomplished task.
